Kris Kluver, in The Dysfunctional Family Office, names this archetype the Artist. The Artist works from their own definition of success. They feel disconnected from the family's values or direction. Often dismissed but may hold the most honest mirror to family dysfunction. The Artist sees what nobody else in the family wants to see. They name the dysfunction directly. They reject the values the family has been operating on. They build a different life by choice. The family reads this as betrayal or weakness. It's neither. The Artist is often the family's healthiest member, just measured against the wrong scoreboard. The fix is for the family to listen. Sometimes the Artist's path becomes the model the family eventually adopts. Either way, dismissing the Artist costs more than engaging with what they're saying. The Artist pairs with the Visionary founder to produce Parallel Tracks.
