What does the Professional section of the Balance Wheel cover?

Framework: Balance Wheel · Chapter: Appendix 3: Balance Wheel

Three spokes. Environment, Compensation, and Job Satisfaction. Kris Kluver's Balance Wheel, in The Dysfunctional Family Office, structures the Professional quadrant to capture more than pay. Environment asks about physical workspace, mutual respect with colleagues, clarity of purpose and goals, and alignment between workplace values and personal values. Compensation asks about fair pay for value provided, flexibility, talent utilization, growth opportunities, and skill development. Job Satisfaction asks about satisfaction with the work itself, how challenging it is, expectation clarity, knowing when you've succeeded, and whether the work has significant impact. Most UHNW founders score high on Compensation and lower on Job Satisfaction by the time they get into their later years. The pattern matters because most founders attribute their dissatisfaction to other quadrants when it's actually inside Professional itself. The fix is to look at which spoke is dragging the score and address that specifically.
